Environmental and Sustainability Policy

Iskhak LLC d/b/a SalemWise Solutions

Version 1.1, adopted September 29, 2026, updated October 7, 2026. Next review by September 29, 2027. Owner: Founder and CEO.

Who we are

SalemWise Solutions is a small, remote-first software and AI company based in New Jersey. We build and run AI systems for our clients using our own GPU servers and established cloud providers. We do not manufacture products, ship physical goods or handle hazardous materials, other than the electronic waste (old devices and batteries) that every technology business produces. Our largest environmental impacts are the electricity used by our servers, the electronics we buy and eventually retire, and business travel. This policy sets out how we manage them.

Our commitments

  1. Energy-efficient computing. We use GPU power management, keep servers that are not needed for active work switched off, and consolidate workloads onto the fewest, most efficient machines. We choose right-sized and quantized AI models where they meet the quality a task needs, because a smaller or quantized model uses less energy for each answer it produces. We prefer cloud providers that publish their own sustainability commitments.
  2. Responsible electronics lifecycle. We extend the life of our hardware by repairing, upgrading and repurposing it before replacing it. Equipment we no longer need is resold or donated where it still works, after secure data wiping. Anything that cannot be reused goes to a recycler certified to R2 or e-Stewards, or an equivalent standard. Batteries are recycled, not placed in household trash.
  3. Paperless operations. Contracts, invoices, signatures and records are handled digitally. We avoid printing unless a law or a client requires it.
  4. Virtual-first meetings and sustainable travel. Most of our meetings, internal and with clients, are held by video. When travel is needed, we combine trips, choose rail where it is practical, and book economy class.
  5. Remote work. Our team works from home offices, so we have no daily commute and no separate office building to heat, cool or light.
  6. Measuring before promising. We made a first estimate of our footprint in 2026 and will measure a 12-month baseline for server electricity use, the related greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 2), electronic waste and business travel in 2027. We will confirm specific reduction targets once that baseline is measured, consistent with any climate commitments we have made.
  7. Compliance. We comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations, including New Jersey rules on electronic waste and battery disposal, and we review our compliance as part of the annual review of this policy.
  8. Supporting small and diverse businesses. As a small business ourselves, we give fair consideration to small, minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned and other diverse businesses when we buy goods and services or choose partners.
  9. UN Sustainable Development Goals. We use four of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to guide our business decisions: SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
  10. Renewable energy. We will evaluate renewable electricity options for our servers, such as New Jersey community solar or a green supply option from our utility.

Responsibility and review

The Founder and CEO is accountable for this policy and for providing the resources to carry it out. Every team member is expected to follow it in their daily work. We review this policy at least once a year, and after any significant change to our operations, and we publish the current version on this page.

Our suppliers and subcontractors are held to the environmental standards in our Supplier and Subcontractor Code of Conduct.

This policy describes our current practices and goals. It is not a contract or a warranty, and we may update it at any time.
